FAQ

Check before you choose diaper inserts…

The success of using reusable diapers largely depends on the appropriate internal insert, known as the absorbent insert.

The absorbent insert is the “heart” of every reusable diaper – when chosen correctly, it ensures proper functionality and successful use of cloth diapering.

There are many solutions in the world of cloth diapering. Both fans of natural materials that come in contact with the baby’s skin and those who prefer convenient, quick-drying solutions will find products in MM’s offering that meet their expectations

Depending on the type of diaper chosen for your child, you should properly complement the waterproof outer shell by placing the appropriate absorbent insert inside.

To ensure safety, wearing comfort, and care for the delicate skin of the youngest, we use only safe, hypoallergenic materials in the production of absorbent inserts. Depending on your needs, you can choose inserts blended with bamboo fiber, organic cotton, or inserts made from microfleece or Hydro terry cloth.

All absorbent inserts are made in the Polish Mommy Mouse workshop. We design and sew them based on our own ideas, using high-quality materials known for their excellent absorbency. We care about the health and comfort of children while contributing to the reduction of daily waste

MM’s offer includes absorbent inserts that are compatible with the diapering systems offered by Mommy Mouse, as well as universal inserts used with various types of diapers.

The variety of absorbent inserts allows for satisfying even the most demanding needs, but… how to choose the right one?

When making a general division of absorbent inserts, several key factors must be considered:

1. Type of base material::

  • NATURAL – this means the absorbent insert is made from natural materials such as organic cotton, bamboo fiber, hemp, or linen.
  • SYNTHETIC – this group includes polyester knits, fleece, or thermoactive fabrics.

2Purpose (type of external diaper):

  • SHELL / POCKET – the shape of the insert plays a key role here. These diapers are best suited for a simple insert, terry cloth diaper, or hourglass insert (for shells).
  • SHELL WITH SIO SYSTEM – the dedicated inserts are anatomical ones, shaped like an hourglass with snap buttons, allowing them to be secured in the SIO (Snap-In-One) diaper system.

3. Size (weight and body structure of the child):

Due to the varying needs of a child at different stages of development, in terms of length, width, and thickness of the internal insert, we distinguish sizes:

  • NEWBORN, S, M, L, XL, JUNIOR – for inserts designed for Shells and Pocket diapers
  • S/M, L/XL – for hourglass-shaped inserts dedicated to the SIO system and Shells.

4. Expected and Desired Features of the Absorbent Insert:

  • ABSORBENCY – considering several factors like age, weight, body structure, urine output, frequency of bowel movements, and diaper change cycles, each child should be treated individually.
  • The degree of absorbency depends on several factors: the type and quality of the material used, the number of absorbent layers, shape, size, and insert construction.
  • INDIVIDUAL CHILD NEEDS – children have different levels of moisture tolerance. While Hania doesn’t mind, Tadzio might become irritated by the feeling of wetness against his skin.
  • USER COMFORT – an important factor for both the child and the parent. Fans of simple solutions will choose a terry cloth diaper, while those who value convenience can opt for a wide range of ready-made absorbent inserts.

Innovative diaper inserts, such as those equipped with the no-crush system known as Mommy Mouse “sides”, help prevent unwanted surprises

Drying speed and stain resistance are also important aspects related to the base material of the insert.

  • DURABILITY AND UNIVERSALITY – High-quality materials with safety certificates ensure long-term use and safety when in contact with the child’s skin.

Additionally, proper use, washing, drying, and rotation of inserts have a significant impact on their lifespan and condition.
